50-year-old man accused of attacking women with water balloons. RICHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO) - Authorities said a 50-year-old man threw water balloons out of his car at nearly a dozen women.

While out for a jog just before Thanksgiving, Caitie said she was hit with a water balloon in Richfield, Minnesota. “So he threw it, it hit me on my arm and just kind of ricocheted over,” she said. At first, Caitie thought it was a prank, a kid playing a joke, until she saw the driver was not a teenager. “I didn’t even take myself seriously at first so I just called and said, ‘This is silly, but I need to report this,’” Caitie said. After talking with Richfield police, Caitie made a post on Facebook and comments poured in of others saying the same thing happened to them. Tricia Lortson said she initially just laughed it off. “It startled me, and turned around and looked, and oh, it was a, you know, a yellow water balloon,” she said. Court documents claim there were nine other victims identified by the Richfield Police Department hit by water balloons all thrown from the same car over the last few months. “All of the victims in the water balloon attacks are females, showing a clear bias against women,” according to the court documents. The alleged bias makes the 14 charges faced by the 50-year-old man more serious. “He’s targeting women and women only. Women who are alone for the most part. Women who are in their yards with their kids. Women who are walking their dog,” Caitie said. Though the man is charged, he is not yet in police custody.
