Data recovery means the act of retrieving lost, deleted, corrupted or inaccessible information. Data recovery may either take place through restoration from backup systems or by employing various techniques to retrieve data on a storage device. Some scenarios that require data recovery include accidentally deleting files, formatting, corrupting file partition, crashing system, hardware issues and failure of storage device. However, data recovery cannot always be successful since in some instances where data has been overwritten or where there is serious damage to the storage device, data becomes impossible to recover. To avoid total loss of information, taking several backups would be helpful.
