Under the Companies Act, 2013, shares on which dividends remain unclaimed for seven consecutive years are transferred to the IEPF along with the corresponding dividend amount. To recover these shares, the claimant must file Form IEPF-5 on the IEPF portal and submit the required documents to the company and the IEPF Authority.

After verification by the company and approval from the IEPF Authority, the shares are credited to the claimant&rsquo;s demat account. This process helps investors or their families regain ownership of long-unclaimed investments.
