Three years with the same battery in Dubai summer heat – is this normal? (7 อ่าน)

I'm genuinely surprised right now because I just realised my car battery is over three years old and still going strong without any signs of trouble. Everyone always told me that batteries in Dubai die after about two years max because of the heat so I've been waiting for the inevitable breakdown every time I start the car. I do take a few precautions like parking in shaded spots when I can and I try not to run the AC on full blast before driving off but nothing too extreme. A friend recently asked me what kind of battery I have and I honestly had no idea so I checked online trying to find information about ensuring your vehicle's battery lasts longer and stumbled across this page on emiratesinside that talked about AGM versus standard batteries and how some are just built better for our climate. Now I'm wondering if I accidentally got lucky with a good quality one or if maybe the three year thing is a myth and most people just don't look after theirs properly. Anyone else had a battery last way longer than expected or am I just jinxing myself by talking about it?
